There’s something special about a chardonnay. Originating in the Burgundy wine region of eastern France, chardonnay is now produced wherever wine is made around the world. As the most widely planted white grape variety on a global scale, there is some serious traction when it comes to this full-bodied white wine.
Digging deeper into one of our offerings, in this showcase we are considering the fabulous Domaine Gabriel et Paul Jouard Bourgogne Chardonnay. Paul Jouard is the 7th generation winemaker in this storied family and has been making the family wines since 1992. He is truly a throwback to the Burgundy winemakers of old.

“The ideal late summer wine has to tick a lot of boxes. First, it has to combat the scorching heat of our warming world. Of course, it should also make us forget about any and all problems we face daily. And it should probably go well with the foods we eat around this time of year.
Luckily for us, we have Domaine Gabriel et Paul Jouard Bourgogne Chardonnay. Sure, it comes from one of the most prestigious areas for French Chardonnays, but that isn’t what makes it special. Nor is the fact that Beastie Boys’ Michael Diamond is a big Jouard fan.
Served cold, the bracing Old World acidity is perfectly balanced with judicious toasted oak- a gentle reminder that a touch of smoke can be a blessing- while still cleansing the grit from the throat. Alcohol, in moderation, (this one is classically low ABV) serves as a great departure from the stresses of life, so all that is left is a great wine for pairing. Fortunately, White Burgundy is incredibly versatile. Drink with grilled chicken, almost anything seafood, light pasta dishes, or just a big bowl of sour cream and onion potato chips, and revel.
