Carte Turquoise – Cremant de Loire – $21.80

If you’ve been paying attention,  you’ll notice that “super sizing” has been replaced in the food lexicon with ”up scaling”.  To me, nothing captures this sentiment as much as the rise of brunch; something once confined to warming trays of powdered eggs is now replaced with bone marrow, farm raised eggs & local bacon.

For a wine person, the best part of this trend in quality over quantity is that great food begs for pairing a great wine with brunch on a lazy Sunday.

For the past several weeks, I’ve been rolling brunch at Burns Street Bistro with this excellent cremant de Loire from Baumard. Sure, you see your fair share of byob Cava mimosas kicking around atop tables and there’s nothing wrong with that.

For me, though, I like something a little less sweet and the Baumard is a perfect fit: Mid priced, crisp & citrus fruit acidic with a hint of a salty undertone. Grab a bottle to split between a couple of folks to mate an upscale wine with your notch-kicked brunch!
