| Drawing primarily from the Central Coast and Sonoma, the fruit for the 2004 Dancing Bull Merlot is sourced from both warm and cool climate regions in an effort to produce a Merlot with layers of fruit flavors, primarily black and red berries. The Central Coast fruit benefits from the distinctive Bay and Delta breezes that cool the grapes in the evenings to create ripe, forward fruit, and soft tannins. The cooler climate of Sonoma and the coastal regions adds contrast to the blend, balancing the intense ripeness with some structure and a bit of spice.
The wine is all about ripe dark fruit flavors of blackberry and black cherry and an almost luscious, velvety mouthfeel. This is framed by subtle red fruit flavors of raspberry and strawberry and a hint of toasty vanillin oak. The Dancing Bull Merlot’s deep, rich fruit flavors and smooth luxurious texture make it a worthy sibling to our award winning, bold and spicy Zinfandel. A great complement to grilled vegetables, risotto or pizza. |
